Day of the Dead

The community is invited to the Courthouse Plaza and Sharlot Hall Museum on Sunday, Nov. 1 to celebrate Day of the Dead (Dia de Los Muertos) beginning at 1 p.m. at the Courthouse Plaza. This traditional Mexican/southwestern celebration honors the memory of friends and relatives who have gone before. The Courthouse Plaza gathering will be followed by a musical procession to the Museum, two blocks west of the Plaza. The group Mariachi Tierra Caliente will highlight Museum festivities, which also include folkloric dancing, local Mexican oral histories, delicious foods traditional to the holiday and viewing of memorial altars.
